Nashville, TENNESSEE – Metro Police said both suspect were arrested and taken into custody on Friday.
This incident occurred on S 5th Street, police officials said.
A delivery driver was heading back to his car when the suspect appeared from behind the car and, at gunpoint, demanded the keys as well as his wallet and cell phone.
The 24-year-old suspect, later identified as Emmanuel West, discovered that the car he had manual transmission, which he didn’t know how to operate.
He then robbed a woman on Shelby Avenue who was waiting for a school bus, according to the police report.
MNPD officers located the suspect near S 6th and Sylvan Streets.
He was taken into custody without incident.
Investigators then tracked the stolen cell phone to an apartment on S 5th Street and determined that the 28-year-old man there was West’s accomplice.
He was later identified as 28-year-old Jesse Thompson Jr.
Thompson is alleged to have provided West with the gun, and then got it back from him after the robberies.
The loaded semi-automatic pistol was recovered, police said.
West is now charged with two counts of robbery and felony gun possession.
Thompson is now charged with aggravated robbery.
