Lebanon, TENNESSEE – According to the Lebanon Police Department, the fatal crash occurred around 4:52 p.m. Monday.
It happened near the intersection of W. Main St. and N. Greenwood St.
Lebanon Police Department officers responded to a report of a crash.
The responding officers discovered that gray SUV struck another vehicle and continued eastbound on towards the Lebanon Town Square, two blocks away.
The responding officers found two victims.
The 37-year-old female driver of the sedan and the 3-year-old passenger were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The 37-year-old female driver succumbed to her injuries and passed away, the child was examined and has since been released from the hospital.
The 70-year-old driver of the SUV was found to be driving impaired, based on the results of field sobriety tests given on scene and the statements of eye witnesses to the crash.
Her name is Sandra Strickland and she is now charged with DUI 1st and Vehicular Homicide by Intoxication.
Other charges are pending, police said.
