Nashville, TENNESSEE – According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, this incident occurred around 8:09 p.m. Saturday.
It happened in the 400 block of Broadway.
East Precinct Officer Kevin Clausius reportedly saw the 41-year-old suspect, later identified as Matthew Charboneau, yelling at people and acting aggressively toward another man.
Officer Clausius approached the 41-year-old man who immediately engaged in a physical altercation with him, during which the officers’ left ankle was broken, MNPD officials said.
When the suspect was placed into handcuffs, he then attempted to headbutt another police officer.
Charboneau is now charged with aggravated assault against a first responder, assault against a police officer, public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
This incident remains under investigation.
