Nashville, TENNESSEE – Metro Police said the 18-year-old suspect was arrested and taken into custody on Saturday.
His name is Lamarion Buchanan and he is now charged with attempted burglary of a motor vehicle, theft of a firearm, and evading arrest.
MNPD officers were in the area of 6th Avenue North and Monroe Street Saturday right after 10 p.m. when they observed the suspect looking into cars parked in a gravel lot and pulling on door handles.
When suspect approached a detective’s unmarked police car, he pulled on the rear and driver’s side door handles before realizing that the car was occupied, Metro Police said.
The 18-year-old suspect fled on foot but was taken into custody a short time later.
Officers recovered a .380 caliber pistol that the suspect had dropped prior to his arrest.
The gun had been reported stolen on April 4 from an unlocked car parked on Hume Street.
