Cumberland County, TENNESSEE – According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the shooting occurred right after 9 p.m. Friday.
It happened on I-40 in Cumberland County.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a vehicle that was heading eastbound but driving in the westbound lane of I-40.
The responding deputies found the suspect’s vehicle unoccupied.
One of the responding deputies found the driver and told him to show his hands.
According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the suspect was reportedly holding a handgun and ran toward the deputy.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s deputy then fired a shot.
The unidentified suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
