Nashville, TENNESSEE – Metro Police officials said this unfortunate accident occurred around 10:41 a.m. Saturday.
It happened in the 500 block of Metroplex Drive.
Metro Nashville Police Department officers responded to a report of a crash.
The responding officers discovered that the 27-year-old driver was driving a Dodge Charger westbound on I-24 when he left the roadway, went onto the right shoulder and through a fence.
His vehicle then went into a parking lot and crashed into a metal pole.
The 27-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was later identified as Xavier Ward.
Ward was reportedly the single occupant of his vehicle and he was not wearing a seatbelt.
This incident remains under investigation.
