According to the police officials, the 34-year-old mother is accused of stabbing her two young, 3 and 5, children at their family home Friday morning. Prosecutors said the mom is charged with two counts of deliberate homicide in the deaths of her 3-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son, according to reports. After the stabbing, the woman called her mother and told her that “she had just saved her two babies.”
The 34-year-old mother from Montana, Leannah Gardipe, is being held on $10 million bon. Judge Beal said he intended to make it unattainable because she is the greatest threat to society and herself. The 34-year-old woman reportedly told her mother she wanted to save her babies.
Deputies responded to her home on Patty Ann Drive Friday around 8:15 a.m. for a report of a homicide. The suspect’s mother called police, according to reports. The children’s grandmother told deputies that she received a call from her daughter earlier that morning. She reportedly told her mother that “she had just saved her two babies.”
The responding deputies found the children in their beds with knife wounds. The children also had defensive marks on their hands, authorities said. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators also found a steak knife, described as the murder weapon, underneath the children’s bed.
While they were searching the home, deputies found a note at the threshold of the bedroom where the children were: ” It was the only way that we all wouldn’t burn, now I’m the only one of us that will.”
According to reports, the 34-year-old mother is expected to undergo a mental evaluation before her next hearing which has been set for Dec. 6. This incident remains under investigation. This is a developing story and it will be updated as new information become available.
