According to the police officials, her name is Vanessa Blanchard, and he was arrested on Friday. The 39-year-old woman from Tennessee is now charged with contributing to the delinquency of a child and false impression of death.
Blanchard reportedly fake the death of her 12-year-old son who has autism.
Her son is a student at New Providence Middle School and on Oct. 29, a School Resource Officer contacted the woman, asking why her son had not been attending school.
The 39-year-old woman reportedly said that her son died from a seizure two days earlier.
After the school officials raised money and tried to help her pay for her son’s funeral, they contacted the funeral home.
But, they were told no funeral arrangements for the 12-year-old boy.
Officials then contacted the mother again and she reportedly told them her son was awaiting an autopsy.
On Nov. 16, deputies responded to the Vacation Motor Motel, were her son’s school-issued laptop was found to be active.
The responding deputies reportedly found her 12-year-old son alive and by himself in the room.
During an interview with investigators the woman reportedly admitted to leaving her son in the motel room by himself over the past two weeks.
She reportedly checked on the boy whenever she could – daily or every other day.
This is a developing story and it will be updated as new information become available.
