Woman, who was not vaccinated against COVID-19, says she spent 5 months in the hospital fighting for her life after contracting the Coronavirus last year. Now, doctors told her that it could be 6 months before she finally can speak normally again. The 30-year-old mother explained the reason she did not get vaccinated sooner was because she spent most of her time at home. She was not concerned about a threat and reportedly said “I was gonna get vaccinated but I caught COVID first.” The doctors also told the woman that she will now have to live with other lifelong difficulties, from having asthma permanently to having to be more cautious around other people while she recovers.
The 30-year-old woman from Misouri, Laquanachae Moore, told KY3 that she spent 5 months in the hospital fighting for her life after she contracted COVID in Dec. 2021. In January, her symptoms worsened and she couldn’t breathe. She also said that she couldn’t get up and walk anywhere. Luckily, her sister was there and took her to the emergency room. Unfortunately, Moore only remembers getting admitted and going to the ICU. After that nothing, she said.
According to 4 News, the 30-year-old mother was intubated and put in a medically induced coma from January to March. When she woke up, she discovered that her fight against the killer virus is not over yet. The doctors reportedly told her that it could be 6 months before she finally can speak normally again.
During an interview with KY3, Moore reportedly said: “I was still critical. I was on a ventilator. I couldn’t’ talk at all because I had the [Tracheostomy]. And I had a feeding tube. I almost died a couple of times.”
The 30-year-old mother, who was released from the hospital on June 1, also said that “I was gonna get vaccinated but I caught COVID first.” She also said that the main reason why she did not get vaccinated sooner was because she spent most of her time at home, and she was not concerned about a threat. Now, she urges other people to get vaccinated because there’s a lot of people in the hospital now who is not making it like she did, and it’s sad to hear, she said.
Besides her voice, the doctors told Moore that she will now have to live with other lifelong difficulties, from having asthma permanently to having to be more cautious around other people while she recovers, 4 News reports. The 30-year-old mother also added that she can’t be around a lot of people, because if she does, she can get a respiratory infection.
