Nashville, TENNESSEE – Police officials said the 22-year-old suspect was arrested and taken into custody on Thursday.
His name is Labrian Elliot and he is now charged with the June 29 murder of 23-year-old Jeremy Smith who was fatally shot inside a car on River Road Pike.
The 22-year-old man was arrested on outstanding warrants, unrelated to the murder, charging him with two counts of aggravated robbery and burglary of a motor vehicle.
During an interview with investigators, the suspect reportedly admitted his involvement.
He reportedly told authorities that while driving on River Road Pike he shot Smith inside the car.
The motive remains under investigation.
At the time of his arrest, the 22-year-old suspect was in possession of a handgun reported stolen in December 2021 from a pickup truck on 11th Avenue South.
The aggravated robbery charges stem from a May 30 hold-up at the D.B. Todd Market, 1509 Dr. D.B. Todd Jr. Boulevard.
Labrian Elliot is being held without bond, Metro Police said.
