Nashville, TENNESSEE – According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the shooting occurred right after 6 p.m. Thursday.
It happened on West H. Davis Drive.
Officers responded to a shooting call.
The responding officers found one adult male victim.
Police said the 18-year-old victim was shot in the chest and was taken to a hospital for treatment, where he died.
He was later identified as Fernando Akins.
The victim’s half-brother was reportedly handling a pistol when it discharged, striking the victim in the chest.
His name is Elton Maupins and he reportedly surrendered to authorities on Friday.
The 17-year-old is now facing charges of criminal homicide and unlawful gun possession.
