Nashville, TENNESSEE – Metro Police said the fatal semi-truck vs pedestrian crash occurred Saturday night.
It happened on I-65 North near Trinity Lane.
Metro Nashville Police Department officers responded to a report of a crash.
The responding officers discovered that the driver of the semi reported seeing a vehicle broken down in the middle of the interstate and swerved into the next lane to avoid a collision.
As the semi attempted to merge back into the original lane, the 60-year-old victim was discovered in the middle of the interstate.
The driver of the semi attempted to avoid collision by swerving into another lane, but was unsuccessful.
The 60-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
She was later identified as Mary Murphy.
Based on her injuries, investigators believe the victim was hit by multiple vehicles prior to the semi, Metro Police said.
The driver of the semi remained on scene.
