Nashville, TENNESSEE – According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, this unfortunate incident occurred early Friday morning.
It happened on I-40 West near mile marker 195.8.
MNPD officers responded to a report of a crash.
The responding officers discovered that the 30-year-old driver of Hyundai Elantra crashed into the back of a tractor trailer that was stopped on the right shoulder just past Highway 70 South.
The 30-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
She was later identified as Lauren Searles.
The driver of the semi was not injured.
There were no signs of impairment at the scene.
This incident remains under investigation.
