Nashville, TENNESSEE – Metro Nashville Police Department officials said the 28-year-old suspect was arrested and taken into custody Friday morning.
His name is Antonio Butler and he is now charged with attempted criminal homicide and being a felon in possession of a weapon.
Butler was taken into custody following a shooting on South 7th Street that left a 41-year-old man critically wounded.
MNPD officials said the 41-year-old victim was in a verbal altercation with another individual when the 28-year-old suspect approached them and fired multiple shots at the victim.
The altercation between the two men was over a woman.
Butler told detectives he was across the street when he heard screaming and fired rounds at the victim to break up the fight.
The victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and is now critical but stable condition.
Butler fled the scene and was seen entering the nearby apartment.
Multiple firearms, including two Glock handguns and an AK “Draco”, were found inside the residence.
Butler is being held on $418,500 bond.
