Nashville, TENNESSEE – Metro Nashville Police Department officials said the 20-year-old suspect was arrested and taken into custody Monday afternoon.
His name is Joshua Lane and he is now charged with two counts of aggravated child abuse.
The 20-year-old man is accused of causing critical injuries to his five-week-old son.
MNPD officials said the unresponsive child was taken by his parents to Centennial Medical Center Sunday.
He was stabilised and transferred to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.
The medical personnel at the hospital determined that the infant has life-threatening severe head trauma with little to no brain function, bruising, and a healing fractured rib.
During an interview with investigators, the 20-year-old suspect said that he zoned out and may have shaken the child.
He also acknowledged that bruising to his son’s knee was causing by him pinching the leg.
Lane is being held on $150,000 bond.
This incident remains under investigation.
