Nashville, TENNESSEE – Metro Police said that both teens, 14-year-old and 13-year-old, are now charged with burglary and vandalism in excess of $10,000 for spray painting graffiti on the exterior of Valor College Prep charter school.
This incident occurred on Sunday, May 29.
Police officials also said that both teens, who were not named due to their age, are also accused of breaking into and damaging the interior of the school (including computer monitors and light fixtures) on May 30.
The school officials discovered the graffiti and interior damage when reporting for work on Tuesday.
Surveillance footage showed four teens entering the school through a window after cutting a screen on Memorial Day evening.
On Wednesday, the school staff reportedly spotted two juveniles who they recognized from the surveillance footage in the neighborhood of the school.
Staff followed the teens to a home, spoke with the mother of one of the teens, and then contacted detectives.
A camera stolen from the school as well as various office supplies were recovered during the arrests, Metro Police said.
The investigation continues to identify and charge the other two persons involved.
Metro Police said that the two teens attended Antioch Middle School,
