Nashville, TN – According to the MNPD officials, naround 3:30 a.m. early Saturday morning, the 16-year-old driver was traveling east on I-24 at a high rate of speed when he struck the rear of the CRV driven by 47-year-old Eduardo Tovar-Carrizales.
The CRV spun off the roadway and rolled into the wood line.
Tovar-Carrizales and his 46-year-old front seat passenger sustained minor injuries. A rear seat 62-year-old passenger, Rosa Torres, died at the scene.
A fourth 64-year-old rear passenger was transported to Skyline Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The rear seat passengers were not wearing their seatbelts.
The Lexus also traveled into the wood line. The teen driver showed indicators of impairment.
Toxicology testing is being conducted on the teen driver. He and his 16-year-old male passenger were transported to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
