Nashville, TENNESSEE – Police officials said the fatal hit-and-run crash occurred right after 8 p.m. Sunday night.
It happened at the intersection of 40th Avenue North and Albion Street.
MNPD officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash.
The responding officers discovered that the unidentified driver of a stolen Hyundai Genesis was traveling north on 40th Avenue North at a high rate of speed.
As the stolen vehicle approached Albion Street, Chevrolet Malibu crossed 40th Avenue North on Albion Street.
The hit-and-run driver was reportedly seen by a witness exiting the vehicle and walking away from the scene. He is described as a young black man with the first name of James.
The 17-year-old female passenger of the Hyundai suffered serious injuries and was take n to a hospital for treatment.
The 41-year-old passenger of the Chevrolet Malibu, later identified as Lasundra Rice, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital where she later died.
The 40-year-old driver of the Chevrolet Malibu, Petrie Rice, and a rear passenger, Christopher Bennett, both suffered serious injuries.
The Hyundai was reported stolen on April 23 from a sports bar in the 1300 block of Bell Road. The keys had been left in the car.
