Nashville, TENNESSEE – Metro Police said the fatal crash occurred right before 2 a.m. early Sunday morning.
It happened on I-40 east between Fesslers Lane and the I-24 junction.
Metro Nashville Police Department officers responded to a report of a two vehicle crash.
The responding officers discovered that the semi-truck was traveling in the far right lane when it was struck from behind by Toyota Yaris.
The 31-year-old driver of the Toyota Yaris suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment, where they later died.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
The semi-truck driver was uninjured.
There was no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement at the scene, Metro Police said.
