A Nashville woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Elm Hill Pike and Massman Drive on Saturday.

Rhonda Rucker, 57, was rear ended by an 18-year-old driver of a 2010 Ford Mustang while stopped at the intersection, according to a Metro Nashville Police Department press release.

Both vehicles crossed over Massman Drive into a ditch and caught fire. Rucker’s Honda CRV quickly became fully engulfed in flames.

Rucker’s passenger, a 37-year-old man, managed to escape, but was unsuccessful in removing her from the vehicle. Rucker was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 18-year-old was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center with severe burns and is in stable condition. Police said all three individuals involved wore seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The preliminary contributing factor to this crash is the 18-year-old’s failure to drive with due care.
