Nashville, TENNESSEE – Police officials said the 33-year-old suspect was arrested and taken into custody on Thursday.
Her name is Tiffany Young and she is now charged with first-degree murder in the June 2021 death of her 3-week-old son Andrew Dalton.
Metro Police said the suspect was arrested and taken into custody at a fast-food restaurant on Gallatin Pike North after Youth Services detectives developed information that she was there.
She is being held on $250,000.
The 3-week-old victim was rushed to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital on June 16, 2021, after he was found unresponsive and not breathing inside the family’s Lenore Street home.
A small plastic container was found on the bed containing a powder substance determined by the MNPD crime laboratory to be methamphetamine.
A blood sample from Young tested positive for fentanyl, cocaine and amphetamine.
The medical examiner ruled that the baby died as the result of mechanical asphyxia, likely caused by an arm or leg being compressed against his abdomen.
