Nashville, TN – A 20-year-old man surrendered to police and was charged with criminal homicide in connection with a fatal shooting that killed a 23-year-old man in Nashville.
Police said Austin Arrieta turned himself in at police headquarters Saturday evening following the shooting death of Luis Hernandez. According to investigators, Arrieta allegedly shot Hernandez after the two became involved in a physical fight.
The shooting happened around 4:20 a.m. Saturday at the City Side Flats apartment complex on Lebanon Pike. Homicide Unit detectives said their investigation found that a group of individuals had gathered at the complex before a physical altercation escalated into gunfire.
Hernandez was struck during the incident and transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
Police said Arrieta’s booking photo is being withheld at this time because of an investigative lineup scheduled for Monday.
