Nashville, TN – Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division TITANS Unit conducted targeted operations Monday around the James Cayce Homes in East Nashville, resulting in the recovery of multiple firearms and a quantity of fentanyl.
In three separate incidents, officers recovered four handguns, one imitation Glock, and approximately ten grams of fentanyl.
In the first case, detectives observed a car traveling at a high rate of speed near Sylvan Street and South 9th Street. A passenger exited the vehicle in a nearby alleyway carrying a backpack. When approached by officers, the individual discarded the backpack and fled on foot. Detectives recovered three loaded handguns from the abandoned backpack. The vehicle was later located, abandoned.
In a second incident, two 15-year-old males were observed near South 7th Street and Sylvan Street. One was carrying what appeared to be a handgun in his waistband while wearing a ski mask. An investigative stop confirmed the weapon was a replica Glock handgun. Both juveniles were interviewed and released. Police said the investigation into their potential involvement in motor vehicle burglaries remains ongoing.
Finally, a stop was conducted on a sedan after its 32-year-old driver committed multiple traffic violations. Officers found approximately ten grams of fentanyl, a digital scale, and a handgun in the vehicle. The driver was charged with drug possession, and the investigation is continuing.
Police said the operations are part of ongoing efforts to address criminal activity in the James Cayce Homes area and to remove illegal firearms and drugs from the community.
