Nashville, TENNESSEE – Police officials said the fatal crash occurred around 8:09 p.m. Monday night.
It happened on I-24 East near Joelton.
MNPD officers responded to a report of a crash.
The responding officers discovered that the semi was traveling east on I-24 and rounding a curve when the pedestrian was struck.
The 62-year-old driver of the semi, later identified as Leonard McCormick, told investigators that he was unable to avoid the collision.
The 34-year-old pedestrian, later identified as Cameo Biggs, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s mother told investigators that her son was apparently searching for his cell phone.
There was no evidence of drug or alcohol involvement at the scene.
